Poppy – 4 year old female Great Dane

Please meet playful Poppy! Poppy is a 4 year old female Great Dane that has just turned 4 years old, She came to us when the breeder surrendered her, she was in an awful state having lived her entire life in a shed by herself producing puppies.

Poppy came to us in July 2021 and she is now ready for her forever home, it’s taken a lot of confidence building and conditioning to get her to a point where she can be rehomed, however her new home will need to be relatively quiet and calm, with a sofa she can take over as she is still quite shy, although miles better than the empty shell of a dog that arrived with us!

Well, What can I say?! This lady is both stunning inside and out and can’t do enough for you once she knows she can trust you. Sometimes She can be a bit boisterous in her eagerness to do as she is told, but she means well! She is a happy bouncy pup full of playfulness and love once she knows you, like most Danes she can be aloof with new people but a treat usually wins her over.

Poppy loves life, everything is fun to her now, she often picks up agility equipment and runs around with it or throws a tennis ball around for herself, it keeps her occupied for ages and is hilarious to watch! She also loves to chase and play with other dogs but doesn’t realise her size!

Poppy is obviously a very large dog so will need someone with plenty of space, although she is on the smaller end for a great Dane, but that’s still huge!

Poppy is fine with other dogs, in fact she adores them and very much likes to mother them, She is also great with cats!!

Poppy is spayed and while under anaesthetic she had her stomach stapled to avoid her getting a twisted stomach in the future, a common killer in the breed. She is microchipped, de flead and wormed.

Poppy walks perfectly on the lead but can be spooked very easily, she much prefers running off lead in a secure field.

Poppy will need an owner with a good knowledge of the breed and previous experience, and plenty of room, She would be best suited to an adult only home, or older children (teenagers).

Poppy is house trained, travels well and is fine to be left for short periods. Poppy is a big baby and loves her home comforts, She shares my bed with me every night as She just adores her humans!
