Max – 4-5 month old male Saluki cross Whippet

Max is a 4-5 month old male Saluki cross Whippet being fostered in Gloucestershire in adult home with multiple dogs. Max recently came into our care. He has had quite a few homes already in his young life before he joined us not because there is anything wrong with him we might add just not suitable home after suitable home, one left him 10 hours in a crate and their neighbour rescued him that is two of the homes.

Max has not let his unsettled past get him down, he has settled in well into his foster home and although a bit quiet to begin with he has now found his confidence and feet with the other dogs.

Like many young dogs especially Lurcher type before him he can be full on with the other dogs demanding that they play with him, the ones that tell him off he listens the others that won’t tell him off he keeps on.

He is a lovely dog very friendly and affectionate, he has more or less mastered his house training, sleeps in a crate at night with no problems and has just started lead walking with the other dogs which is going great and travels well.

Max is a big bundle of naughtiest, energy who has lacked very little guidance in the past but is soaking it all up like sponge.

He is best home would be with another dog or dogs to play with and people who have owned Salukis or Sighthounds before he may be a cute puppy but it has to be the right people who have the time to put into him with training, socialisation etc and have experienced of this breed before. He has all the makings of a lovely balanced dog with the right owners.

Not suitable for full time workers, very young children as he will bowl them over has, he can be very boisterous as he is still very young and all legs.

In his previous home he lived with 7 cats and we tested him with a cat and he was very good but you can tell he would want to play and be a pain if it was a nervous cat if the cat was dog savvy, he would be fine.

We all love him very much he is very sweet and easy to fall in love with but he needs more than as explained above.

Max has started his vaccination course, been chipped, wormed/fleaed – he is too young for us to neuter so you will be expected to do this as part of the adoption agreement.

If you have read all the above and think you are a good match, ie you have owned Sighthounds before, no young children, you have another dog, he will not be left hours on his own and you have the time to put in training etc please email us for our questionnaire in the first instance.
