Gorgeous Dex is a 5 year old male English Setter. He is very affectionate and a total cuddle monster. He loves his walks and adores just running and running. His recall is quite good at the moment but of course this could change when he finds his feet more. Currently Dex lives with a resident dog but we would consider homes with a resident dog or as an only dog.
Dex is looking for a quiet home, preferably rural where the world doesn’t seem so scary in his eyes. He needs a child free home. He has not been cat tested (and will not be). The lovely Dex travelled to Tamworth in the UK from North Spain at the beginning of the month but sadly he is not settling well in his new home. Although early days, the adopters know they aren’t the right place for him and so we’re looking for another home for Dex.
Unusually for our dogs, Dex has lived in a home his whole life in Spain. He lived in a house with his owner and another dog since he was a puppy. He has never been a hunting dog. His owner changed jobs and she was leaving him locked up in the house all day. Finally hos owner decided she didn’t want him anymore so she took him to the shelter we work with in North Spain to be re-homed.
Dex took it hard when he had to go to the shelter and was very nervous and barked a lot but he did manage to settle down in time. When he travelled to his current home in the UK, he of course had another set back. He was very unsettled initially but started to calm down well after that however he is remains quite a nervous boy.
Dex is unsettled by visitors and really anything that is out of routine for him. Of course the recent fireworks didn’t help him either. When it’s just the two adults in the house, he settles well.
Dex looks a lot like a red and white Irish setter but they are extremely rare in Spain. It is much more likely he is an English Setter like his passport says or perhaps a cross as the Spanish Setters do differ more.
