Lucas is a 9 month old male Ibizan Hound (Podenco) cross Bull Terrier. He isn’t a dog from the pound, and had a family and home until very recently or at least this is what he thought. For the last month and a half our poor Lucas has been living at a boarding kennel in Spain. His old owner decided she didn’t want to give him what he needed as a young puppy, so she took him to a lady we collaborate with so that she would take him on.
He was saved from the local pound, which is something, but it’s unbelievable to imagine how someone could take on a tiny puppy and then abandon them as they grow, dedicating their time to other things they consider more important.
Lucas wasn’t vaccinated, neutered or really cared for as he should have been. He now has everything up to date, including tests for Mediterranean diseases, which were negative. He’s now ready to travel to meet his new family as soon as possible – he needs to know unconditional love and care.
Lucas is a young and athletic dog, with high energy levels. He is friendly, affectionate and obedient, but as a mix of two high energy breeds, he needs an adopter that enjoys walking, running, hiking and exploring – he will love this.
Lucas can live with cats, and in his old home he did share the space with one. In the boarding kennel he’s been good with other dogs, so we feel he could live with others but this isn’t a must. He is in Spain but ready to travel and available for adoption in England and Wales (Not Scotland).
We do not give dogs for adoption to families with young children that haven’t had experience before. Lucas needs to be the focus and to get back to home life as soon as possible. Although his basic needs are covered at the boarding kennel, this isn’t what he’s used to and it’s a very unsettling change for him.
