Marley – 3 year old male Cross-Breed

Marley is a large, shaggy 3 year old male Cross-Breed. He arrived from Romania in 2018. Marley has been so very well loved, and cared for in his home, but sadly, his human has recently passed away so we need to find a new home for him.

Marley is an incredibly sensitive and anxious boy who takes time to build up a relationship, he doesn’t trust easily, but once he has built up a bond, he will reward you with unconditional love, loyalty, affection, cuddles and oodles of goofiness.

Marley is extremely wary of strangers and is absolutely terrified of children. He does get very excited when you mention ‘walk’ and ‘lead’, and can walk nicely to heel, however, he is very easily spooked when he is out, and as he is very strong and powerful he can easily pull you over as he tries to hide to avoid other walkers, cyclists, runners etc. He is very easily scared by traffic, and people, especially children, so he’d be best suited to a rural home which is adult only with few visitors.

Marley has lived with cats, and is very accepting of them, and he currently lives with another dog, who he loves to play with. Marley can be nervous of other dogs when on walks, especially if they run up to him or sniff around him, and he will bark to warn them to stay away. Once he has accepted another dog, Marley just loves to play with them.

Marley is highly intelligent and is eager to learn and to please, he picks up new commands very quickly and loves to learn new skills. Marley knows all his basic commands – sit, stand, wait, stay, down, up, leave it and many, many more, including stop, stand, hug, lift (when you need to wipe his paws) left and right, about turn, front, side, up and under.

Marley loves to cuddle and snuggle, he likes to think he is a lap dog and sit on your knee!! Given his size, this is quite comical! Marley may always be a nervous, anxious dog, that will never change, and he needs his humans to appreciate that and not put him in situations which will cause him anxiety. Marley would benefit from a quiet adult only home with a large secure garden where he can relax and play without having to worry about the outside world.

Marley has rarely been left alone, he gets very upset and anxious when he is, so he needs to be in a home where his humans are around for most of the day, and where there is a calm, older, resident dog to help him feel protected and reassured.
