Petrian is a 3 year old male Collie Cross fostered in Norfolk (FR007). Petrian came to us around a year ago after spending most of his life in the Botosani shelter in Romania. The poor boy was understandably terrified on arrival as he’d never had close interaction with humans and all of a sudden found himself in a family home. It wasn’t long before Petrian learnt to enjoy being around people and would play bow and wag his tail whenever he saw us or we talked to him. Unfortunately he remained afraid to be touched and would avoid contact at all cost. Lead training was rather a trial for him and us but eventually we got there and he’s now ready to move on to the next phase of his life….. a forever home!
Petrian walks well on a lead now and has just begun to be trusted running free with his pack mates with just a trailing lead attached. It is essential that he goes to a home with at least one other dog as finding himself in a home without a dog would be very bewildering for him. He is still a bit bemused about why humans want to fuss him and the final barrier to cross in his new home will be to give him the one to one attention he needs to actually learn to enjoy the sentiment rather than just tolerate and endure it.
Petrian is a very playful and cheeky dog who simply missed out on vital socialisation in his youth, he will be played catch up for a little while yet but one day in the near future he is going to be an amazing addition to a lucky family that get to earn his trust.
