Benji is a 3 year old male German Shepherd Dog cross. Handsome Benji is a tan smooth coated boy standing at 65 cm and the staff cant pick him up to weigh him !!! Bengie is a lovely dog who is friendly, playful and affectionate – always looking for cuddles and company. When Benji first came to the Spanish shelter he was very wary of humans and quite nervous.
However, since he has been in the shelter he has become a lovely, friendly dog. He is learning basic commands like sit, wait etc and he is also learning not to jump up in excitement. He does pull on a lead but he is a very intelligent chap and he learns quickly. He’s a very affectionate dog but tends to forget about how big he is. He loves playing with balls and other toys. Benji had been living in the garden of an empty house for over a year and was occasionally being fed. When he was finally rescued his kennel was covered in overgrown brambles. He was then brought to the shelter.
Benji just needs to continue his basic training and learning to be aware of his size. He has a lovely character we think he would enjoy the company of children over 10 years old. Current location is in Portugal can travel to the UK once he has a home to go to. Vaccinated, wormed, flea treated, Neutered, Microchipped, Pet Passport, FREE 4 weeks Pet Insurance to be activated from the link on our website, Any known health issues NONE KNOWN.
For Dogs coming from Portugal: This adoption fee is a contribution towards the costs of rescuing the dog- microchip, passport, vaccines, tests for S European diseases, neutering (if old enough), parasite treatment and transport to the UK.
We can not home dogs from Portugal to people who work full time or long hours, unless some sort of doggy day care is offered. They need someone at home a lot of the day, they are not used to being alone for long periods. A dog walker for an hour out of the day is not enough. Leaving dogs a long time on their own means they are highly likely to develop separation anxiety which is distressing for them and everyone in their new home.
Adoption Fee : £ 265 – to be paid direct to the Portuguese rescue to cover travel costs via UK bank account
