Little Gizmo is a 10 month old Chihuahua who has come into rescue due to being scared of strangers entering his home and the family feeling they are unable to cope with this. He is a very sweet affectionate little man once he gets to know you but can be vocal when first approached and will bolt when new people move towards him too fast. New adopters will need to be willing to work on this and allow Gizmo the time to approach new people on his terms with calm positive reinforcement. The rescue are happy to advise with ongoing training relating to this.
We think part of the problem he is having may have been due to the fact that he’s had no early socialisation and there were no other confident dogs in the home to learn from. Gizmo absolutely LOVES other dogs. He’s the rare exception to the rule that chihuahuas won’t like bigger dogs; he even plays beautifully with my Great Dane. So because of this and the fact that it will help him to gain confidence and learn, he must be homed with at least one other confident canine companion.
Gizmo is housebroken, crate trained, non destructive in the house, happy to be left for small durations of time and good with cats, however due to how nervous he can be we won’t be accepting applications with young children. Gizmo is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped and will be subject to a home check and adoption donation. He will also come with 4 weeks free insurance and a voucher for a box of free food.
