Khan is a 2 year old male Bernese Mountain Cross. He has recently come into our care from another rescue who brought him over from Bosnia. After an unsuccessful adoption they didn’t have a foster placement available for him and had been forced to put him in kennels so we agreed to take him. Khan fostered Norwich Norfolk.
Khan is a big bumbling baffoon 90% of the time but he can also be dominating at times and needs firm rules and boundaries. We are looking for a home where adopters are large breed experienced and willing to put time into training him. Any large breed dog needs to not be in charge and our gentle giant is no different.
Khan has been taught to sit by previous owners and will do so much of the time unless something else is a more interesting prospect. He has been off lead in the woods in his foster home and he knows his name and knows how to come back when called but only if a more interesting prospect doesn’t present itself, you see a pattern forming here lol.
Khan is currently living in a multi dog household and is enjoying it but could also be an only dog. Khan is also living with children and enjoys their company but children need to be sturdy and hardy as he may inadvertently knock them flying.
Khan should not be allowed to jump up or call the shots and if those simple instructions are followed he is simply a pleasure. We can only reiterate that ALL large breed dogs should follow these rules because a large, unruly and untrained dog is not an easy dog at all!
If you’ve had big breeds before and can offer this stunning boy a joke please get in touch.
