Lenora – 6 year old female Belgian Shepherd Cross

Amazing Lenora is a 6 year old female Belgian Shepherd Cross. Lovely Lenora is our invisible girl, desperately looking for her second chance away from the pound in Northern Spain. She was brought in by dog-catchers in spring 2020, and has spent nearly a year stuck in the confines of the pound imagine the boredom and stress of spending every day surrounded by four walls and a concrete floor, with no company or mental stimulation.

This hasn’t changed Lenora’s sweet and gentle personality, and she remains friendly with people and good with other dogs. Unfortunately, the lack of activity and physical stimulation has left Lenora very overweight, at 41kg (she should weigh around 30-35kg). She has been overlooked for many months, and we don’t really understand why.

Lenora is shy but sweet natured with people, and will approach with a gentle wag of her tail for affection and attention. She lives in a pen with some of the most nervous dogs at the pound (male and female) and is good with all of them. Some are more active and some are smaller than her, and she is very easy going with them around. We do not know how she would be around cats, and cannot test this.

With some TLC, more exercise and a good brush, she will look very different. Months of pound life have taken their toll. We are looking for a kind, patient family, who can see her for what she really is; a beautiful natured girl, in need of a second chance. At only six, she has many years of happiness ahead, and it is such a shame she continues to spend her days in this environment.

We know nothing of her past, as she was found without a collar or microchip. Potential adopters need to bear this in mind, as it means we have no way of knowing how quickly she will adapt to life in a home. She may have lived in one before, or she may never have experienced a home in the past.

Patience and commitment to helping her settle are important, as she may not be housetrained, she may not be used to household noises and regular walks, and she will need time to get used to all of these changes. Because she is in the pound, these are not things we can know at present.

For Lenora we are looking for an adult-only home, as we do not have the possibility to see her around children. We would like her to be the focus of her new family as she settles in, and homes with a fully fenced garden would be preferred.

We believe she could live happily with other dogs, with the right introductions, as she has always been good with them at the pound. She would equally be able to live as an only dog, with lots of attention and love, provided she had the opportunity to continue meeting other dogs out and about.

If you feel you can offer Lenora the caring and committed home she deserves, please get in touch. Please be aware that we rehome to England and Wales, but NOT to Scotland.
