Rio de Janeiro and its surrounding areas in Brazil have a fairly bad stray dog problem. These poor pups have it rough on the streets. Incredibly, one of these unlucky strays turned his fortune completely around when he wandered near a Hyundai dealership in Serra.
The dealership’s employees could tell this pup was hungry and sad. They wanted to help. The showroom manager Emerson Mariano told Folha Vitoria about how the dog touched his and his employee’s hearts.
“We were close to closing time when he appeared in the parking lot. He was very thin. We gave him food and let him stay overnight. The next day, when we arrived to work, he was in the same place.”
They quickly learned that this homeless dog was very sweet and docile. Mariano decided to give him a bath and not long after, a name: Tucson Prime. “Prime” is the name of their group of car dealerships. This boy is important to everyone there.
Obviously, Tucson Prime was here to stay. Mariano said he’s really everyone’s dog now.
“The dealership became his home. He was adopted by the brand and by all of us.”
Bringing In More Business Than The Cars
Naturally, all the dealership’s customers loved Tucson. Pretty soon he became an official employee – the dealership mascot. He gets paid in love and attention! He even has his own personalized ID tag.
Mariano says that people have returned to the dealership just to hang out with Tucson.
“Some customers buy the car with us because of him. There are customers who return to the store after buying the car, and bring their pets to play with him.”
This good boy brings such joy to the dealership and community he’ll even be representing Hyundai in a national commercial. Most importantly, he no longer has to suffer on the streets or wonder where his next meal will come from.
An Ambassador For Strays And Rescue Animals
Tucson seems to know how lucky he is, and he uses his new fame for good. He’s partnered with Alinutri to distribute nutritious food to rescue animals. On Tucson’s Instagram page “he” thanked his fans for helping him pay it forward.
“Thank you for helping me change the story of these little dogs that are like I was once, I have the best humans and we will do everything to help as many pets as possible.”
Here’s hoping more businesses follow this dealership’s example. Adopting a dog as a group committed to his or her care is a very cool idea! As they pointed out through Tucson Prime’s Instagram, “adoption is nothing less than an exchange of love.”
