Tami Malone – 4 year old female Havanese

Tami Malone is a 4 year old female Havanese. She was born in the Czech Republic. She came over to the U.K by specialised transport. Little Tami lived in a loving home, with many other dogs, male and female. Tami gets on great with other dogs. After she settled in, the family noticed that she was not playing so much as her sister and at times was limping. They had the vet come to their home to check her and she found a problem with one of her back legs. Tami was taken to the vets for an x-ray, and It was found that she had Legg Pethies disease which is caused by a lack of blood supply to the top of her femur inside her hip socket causing the bones to crumble. She then had an operation to remove her hip. Because she is a small breed, the hip was not replaced. Tami was given a series of injections over a period of weeks to build up the muscle and gristle in that leg. Although this sounds terrible, it had to be put right. As a result, Tami no longer has any pain from that leg. However, when turning a tight circle or when running around during play, she’ll lift her leg. She would have been in a lot of pain before the operation so this is most likely to be a habit.

Tamique is a happy cuddly bear, and she will sit all night on your lap, if allowed to do so. She can take time to form a bond but once she does it’s for life. Tamique does not like going for a walk. In her previous home, all the dogs walked together in a pack with the owners. She does wear a collar, but hates leads. Ideally, Tami would be best suited to a home where she has a garden to run and play in. She loves balls and lightweight toys. She is an intelligent dog and with the correct force free training, would take to the lead. Care should be taken with her diet. Keep her weight down as this will affect the stress on her hip. She likes her food.

Tami is fully vaccinated, wormed, flea treated, microchipped, neutered and ready to go.

Please don’t judge her because of a leg operation. All the necessary veterinary information will be transferred after a success adoption.

Tami needs to settle into her new home as quickly as possible, so that she can adjust.

If you have any holiday booked, or please feel free to get in touch after your return.

Should you have any questions, please feel free to ask away.
