Lola – 2 year old female Chihuahua

Lola is a 2 year old female Chihuahua who came to us as her owner was unable to give her the attention she deserves, and she was spending long periods of time in a crate. As a result she was overweight and had no muscle tone – this has already begun to improve with regular exercise.

Lola is a self opinionated little girl who knows exactly what she wants! She needs a home with people that will allow her to come to them when she is ready. She doesn’t immediately want to be picked up and cuddled, and will tell you so! Once she knows and trusts you, she is very easy going. She just needs her new owner to take things slowly at first, so that she can show who she really is – a loving little dog so full of character!

Lola is so much fun to be around – her foster family describe her as ” A ray of sunshine with a little bit of hurricane!” She certainly has as many shades as a rainbow. She is loving and cuddly, but can be grumpy. She is funny, playful, clever and active. She loves her walks, but hates getting ready for one – and she is capable of having a full on tantrum! She adores children, but any children in the home will need to be used to dogs and understand that sometimes Lola needs her own space and doesn’t want to be disturbed. We wont rehome Lola with very young children.

Lola’s new home will need to be used to Chihuahuas and able to be firm but fair – and not be rattled by her tantrums! Once she knows and trusts you, she really is the most amazing little girl – a truly larger than life personality that will keep you laughing at her antics.

Although currently living with a mixed group of other dogs, Lola has shown us that she would really prefer to be the only dog in the home. She is wary of large dogs and will bark at them. She doesn’t mind smaller dogs so much but will try to boss them around given the chance. She isn’t interested in playing with other dogs, and would much prefer to be with people. Lola hasn’t been tested with cats, but given how she is with dogs we suspect she would be the same with a cat.
