Daisy – 4 year old female West Highland White Terrier cross Poodle

Daisy is a 4 year old female West Highland White Terrier cross Poodle. She is a sweet natures little West Highland White Terrier cross Poodle girl who has not had the best start in life nor much exposure to things however remains incredibly sweet natured and keen to learn. Daisy has come from an environment with multiple dogs and has never lived as part of a normal home; because of this she will require housetraining (however she is very clean overnight in her kennel) and consideration will need to be given integrating her into a home routine. She will not be familiar with household noises or the hustle and bustle of everyday life but adjusts well to change and has accepted things here very well.

Daisy has never had any kind of coat maintaining so needs a calm understanding owner to teach her about brushing, nail clipping, bathing etc. She generally does accept handling and grooming very well but is fidgety and impatient with it all. Her coat will need regular brushing and grooming so potential adopters need to be aware of this. Please note these photos are prior to being groomed when Daisy first arrived and she will have a full groom prior to adoption.

Daisy has also never been walked and is not accustom yet to wearing a harness or walking in it. We have begun training her and overall she’s doing really well with it but new adopters need to be aware if could be sometime before she walks like a normal dog on the lead and a great deal of time before she’s able to be successfully let off the lead. Care will need to be taken teaching her recall with a long line etc.

We don’t feel she’s a flight risk as she isn’t overly fearful but may find the big wide world a little overwhelming. We would recommend starting lead walking in a garden or secure area and building from there. Daisy takes a lot of confidence from other dogs and enjoys their company. She could live happily with another canine or as a solo dog. She can be a bit possessive with high value treats (with other dogs) but is not food aggressive in general.

Daisy is happy to be crated but we have not seen evidence of her needing it. It may help with her housebreaking and keeping her out of mischief. She has not destroyed anything here but she is inquisitive so would need a crate or secure gated area when she was left unattended. She does not have any separation problems and is happy to be left for reasonable durations of time.

Daisy is essentially a complete blank canvas. She has a beautiful nature, is very smart and is keen to learn but needs a calm understanding patient owner to work with her and teach her the ways of a home. Daisy has never lived with children before so because of this we will only accept applications from homes with resident children age 10+. She is incredibly affectionate and it is high time for her to learn how to be a dog and be loved for the wonderful individual she is. She requires basic training, housebreaking, lead training and socialising. She would benefit highly from puppy training classes.

Daisy is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped and will be subject to a home check and adoption donation.

Pupcakes offer all adopters 4 weeks free insurance with Petplan and a complimentary voucher for a box of free food from “Nutriment Raw.”
