Bella is a female Akita cross German Shepherd, she is 18 months old currently being fostered in Essex. She was bought by a family who ended up moving back to another country. The family we have in mind may have older children as she was accustomed to hang out with. It could be an older couple who have had a similar breed previously. It should not be a fully working family where she will be left during the day.
She will need ongoing effort with her training. She is okay to be left for short trips out, she is clean indoors and not into barking heavily. She is currently living with a foster brother but would prefer to be an only dog. The foster family just watch them carefully where food is down. She is not, however a greedy dog. She has been dry fed with added tidbits to encourage her with the dry food.
Her leash work is now being helped. She tended not to walk from A to B instead meander somewhat in your path. She settles into a decent pace after a bit, just pulling at first when excited.
Bella has settled down in foster so well. She is so calm and soft and gentle. Her kind soft eyes tell it all. She goes off lead and cones to call now. She enjoys walks in woods and likes a paddle in the streams. She greets dogs calmly and is learning to come back after shorter and shorter greets.
Still yet she would be best as an only dog at home as she gets jealous of her otherwise best friend. They play amazingly outdoors. Indoors she tries to control him which he doesn’t like.
Bella can be outdoors or in during the day due to her beautiful thick coat which hardly sheds.
It would not work with a cat in the house unfortunately.
Her temperament is sweet, she is not overly cuddly. (At present). But enjoys a good old tummy rub. She is having off leash and is happy to follow her foster brother. She approaches other dogs happily but not cat tested as yet.
