Penny – 8 year old female Jack Russell Terrier

Penny is an 8 year old female Jack Russell Terrier being fostered in family home in Gloucestershire with teenagers. This lovely girl has recently come into our care, she was an unclaimed stray from South Glos Dog Pound. We have no history on her but she was very thin and obviously been used for breeding. Penny is proving to be a very lovely and easy dog to live with. She has settled into family life very easily and happy to spend her day snoozing on the sofa with you between walks and the garden. She is clean, she sleeps through the night, walks well on her lead and is fine meeting other dogs out. She is a healthy little girl and really enjoys being out on walks so would suit an active person as she is quite young for terrier still.

We have not let her off the lead yet as not sure she would come back. She is a typical little terrier out and about and loves sniffing around in the hedges and is very alert to the squirrels etc in the woods. In the garden she loves all that hunting around in the bushes and look behind the shed and she will need a very secure garden because of this. She has a very sweet temperament and would be best suited to a quiet house with an older couple or person , she is living with teenagers with no problems but would have to say no to children under 16 as she has not been tested with them but also because of her nature of wanting a quiet life this would not be suitable for her.

Penny is not suitable to live with other dogs as the first foster home she was placed with had 3 other dogs and Penny did not cope very well and would go for them, we think it was probably stress but she really needs to be an only dog. If you go out and about for walks with her she totally ignores the other dogs and has been fine with all the dogs we have met its just in a confined area of a home she finds difficult.

She is a super little dog who has probably not had the best of lives but it has not spoilt her temperament and trust in people and we want to find the right home for her where she will be loved and respected for the rest of her life.

Penny is now recovering from being spayed, started her vaccinations, been fleaed and wormed.
