Matty is a 10-12 month old male Cross-Breed. I collected this poor dog from the pound, it was found wandering the streets in a horrific state. We actually couldn’t tell if male or female or head from bum,this poor little mite was absolutely covered in matted fur and poo,and understandably sore and grumpy. I could smell before I could see,and cowered in the corner of a kennel was this poor scared little angry beast that was clearly very uncomfortable and very scared. Once in the car this little gremlin instantly became animated to see there were other dogs onboard, and seemed to instantly relax a little. We got home and it was obvious this poor dog was overheating so I took it upstairs and hosed it off in the bath and it immediately poo’d itself in fear.
Some hours later, a little dog emerged and we realised we had a little man, so we have called him Matty. Little Matty must have been in horrific pain and discomfort, he was absolutely covered in grass seeds and I removed literally 100’s while trying to remove the matts. I couldn’t find his feet or his ears, his tail,it was all just a huge Matt of hair that must of weighed as much as the poor little dog and he sat patiently, because he must of felt immense relief as every mat was removed and he knew we just wanted to help him.
How did this poor little lad get into such a state? How did somebody allow this to happen to such a loving little boy?! It took some 3 hours to make this poor little lad comfortable, his nails were hugely overgrown and were growing into his pads, he had multiple sores underneath all of the matts and he had numerous grass seeds embedded in his skin, all over. I can’t imagine how much pain this poor little lad was in, and yet he sat patiently while I tried to ease his discomfort.
This adorable little lad is only a baby not even a year old. I just don’t understand how this was allowed to happen?! Surely someone must of known what was going on? I’m amazed he hasn’t collapsed in the heat under all that mess, he is lucky he was found straying rather than dead, at least we can help him now. This is England – this is not acceptable or excusable – this is neglect and cruelty plain and simple!
Matty has a full MOT, he has been castrated and has had his nails clipped under anesthetic to ease the discomfort. He has had lots of grass seeds removed, some had penetrated his feet and traveled up his legs and needed surgically removing and he had a course of antibiotics to combat infection. Once Matty was finished at the vets he went straight to our groomers and what a good boy he was, he stood patiently while his coat was evened up and what a smashing little lad emerged!
Matty is a really sweet little lad that just craves love and cuddles! He needs a home that has experience of the breed and is aware of their health and grooming requirements, Matty will need regular grooming as he is a non moulting breed. Matty is a typical little lap dog, he loves nothing more than cuddles, And he will quite literally spend his entire day snuggled with you, he also likes to snuggle under the duvet with you at night. Matty absolutely loves a walk, and is loving experiencing new things and meeting new people, he loves to explore and even likes to have a little swim!
Matty is house trained and non destructive, but he can be a bit timid and will wee himself if he is worried so will need a calm patient home to show him life is good. He mixes fine with other dogs, would be happy to live with other dogs or would be equally happy as the only dog, he is a very happy little lad. He is fine to be left for short periods as long as he has a bed to snuggle up in and is not destructive.
Matty is a very sweet little dog, that is very low maintenance, that desperately wants a lap of his own to snuggle up on, can you offer him this?
