Gracie (left) and Duke (right) are two cute little Border Terriers, aged about 10 and 14 respectively. They are in an Oldies Club foster home in Whitchurch, Shropshire, while they wait for someone to offer them a permanent home. Gracie and Duke don’t mind being left for a while. They just snuggle up together and snooze. They both get on well with other dogs and would probably be happy sharing their home with another friendly one, after nice introductions. They haven’t met any cats since being in foster care and since they’re Terriers, it’s probably safest to assume they’d like to keep it that way!
Gracie and Duke are gentle with children of all ages. They could live with some, as long as they get plenty of rest. Visiting grandchildren of any age would be fine for them. At the moment, Gracie and Duke have two walks a day of about 15 minutes each. Due to arthritis, this is enough for them, combined with pottering time in the garden. They’re good on the lead. Off lead, Duke doesn’t have any recall as he’s pretty well deaf. Gracie also doesn’t have recall but doesn’t have any excuse! Apart from all the interesting smells, of course.
Gracie and Duke’s favourite pastimes: Walking, eating and cuddling – either with you or with each other. There’s only one thing they’re not keen on, loud noises. They need peace and harmony. This would be with a retired person or couple who like gentle strolls giving them cuddles as often as possible!
Gracie and Duke are both vaccinated, microchipped and flea/worm treated. Duke is definitely neutered. We’ve been told that Gracie is spayed. Poor old Gracie had a dislocated hip, but after having a pin in it while it healed, she’s absolutely fine now. Duke had to have an ear ablution but has also been signed off as healthy now, just deaf. He’s lucky to have Gracie to rely on for when to get excited about someone saying “walkies”!
