Tana – 8 year old female English Setter

Tana is an 8 year old English Setter, currently in a UK foster home. She was homed to a lovely couple about 7 months ago now. Unfortunately, due to adopter health issues, she is currently in foster home waiting for a new home. She is a typical working setter and very active for her age. She has a strong prey drive when out in fields and open spaces. She can pull on her lead in these areas but it’s manageable with an effective harness and will improve with some more training. On paths and in more built up areas, she walks beautifully on her lead. She’s also partial to a trip to the local pub or coffee shop with her foster parents and everybody loves to meet her!

When she first arrived from Spain, she had excellent recall, however she is very much testing these boundaries now that she has gained in confidence and she will require more work in this department. She does respond to her name and whistle but, in true setter fashion, can be stone deaf if there’s something more interesting around!

Tana is very affectionate and great with kids. She’s shared a house with an older setter and is currently in foster with a young male setter and gets on with them well. She isn’t as happy with dogs bounding up to her and invading her space, especially while she is on her lead, and will warn them. She loves swimming, food and playing with her toys. She likes to play fetch most says and spends hours outside setting birds if given the chance. She also knows when it’s time to relax and will curl up in her bed in the evening quite happily.

She’s very sweet in nature and submissive. We think she had quite a tough life with her hunter before being handed over to the shelter who rescued her in Spain. She was a very good natured but timid dog in the shelter but has really come out of her shell now she’s had the time to flourish in a home environment with a family of her own. We’d love to find her a new active family as soon as possible who can invest time into further training and ensure Tana that she has nothing to worry about any more.
