Paddy – 2 year old male German Shepherd Cross

Paddy is a 2 year old male German Shepherd Cross. Paddy has had a difficult start in life and started out with very little socialisation prior to coming to stay at my kennels. Paddy was re-homed this Summer but has unfortunately come back to us due to his behaviour towards the families teenage son. Paddy needs a very experienced owner who understands dog behaviour. Unfortunately it is hard to explain that rescue dogs don’t necessarily do well if they are given huge amounts of love without the boundaries and firm but kind handling established first.

Paddy was with us for 6 months prior to being re homed and did improve and become more confident around people. He was in his new home for quite a few months and has improved in area’s having lived in a house with cats and people coming and going. Unfortunately Paddy thought the female of the family needed protection and therefore was able to establish authority above some of the other humans. This is why the problem arose and I truly believe that a household that has another balanced dog for company, and owners who establish themselves as pack leaders, then Paddy could thrive.

Paddy has a huge heart and it doesn’t matter how worried he is, he would never show any aggression. He is very shy in new situations or when he meets new people , but having spoken with his previous owner they have confirmed that Paddy can be a wonderful dog when he is feeling secure and he is happy to approach strangers, especially those with other dogs. Paddy is friendly to all dogs, male or female, big or small, he is also good with cats. A home with young children would not be suitable for Paddy, and any older children would have to be very experienced around nervous dogs. Paddy is house trained.

Paddy so deserves his forever home, he will make a very loyal companion and has so much love to give. He just wants his own family and his own home away from the hustle and bustle of my busy kennels. Paddy is at his happiest when he is out in our grassed paddock playing with his friends. He knows his name and will go back into the kennel block on command. He is a bright dog and would probably enjoy some further training with his new Mum or Dad. He would like to have a confident doggy companion and I now feel Paddy needs a balanced companion to help him. Please give this beautiful boy the home he so deserves. He is fully vaccinated and has a pet passport. If you feel you have the time and experience, please look at Lilly who is Paddy’s best friend and is also looking for her forever home.
