Jura – 5 year old female Jura Hound Cross

Jura is a 5 year old female Jura Hound Cross who was rescued in Cyprus and flew to the
UK to find her forever home. She is currently living in Saltcoats, North Ayrshire, whilst she waits for her forever family to find her. Here is a little about her: Jura is very calm and placid. She rarely barks or gets overly excited but occasionally she gets in the mood for some play with a toy! She really just takes a very nonchalant and laid back approach to most things except her dinner! For that she dances and spins and sits and smiles at you until you hand it over! Jura is amazing on the lead, very light and really doesn’t pull at all, she has a lovely trot! She loves to sniff and check out the undergrowth and if she is on a scent of something she gets very enthusiastic, but is easily brought back into a nice walk. She has some recall, not enough yet to be off lead. She loves treats though and will come on leaps and bounds with some training. She really likes to be near her human.

She was very thin when she arrived in the UK. So we think that in her life in Cyprus, food has been a scarce commodity, hence she doesn’t like other dogs near her bowl. But she is perfect when being handed treats with other dogs. Jura is great with all dogs, just chilled out and takes it all in, she is not a big player, possibly because she has never had the chance, but she likes other dogs and has met them in all shapes and sizes! She could use some work on her recall. She knows some basic commands and has picked up new obedience since she has arrived in the UK. She is very trainable. But is also a hound and has a bit of selective hearing! She is very chilled out and calm with all kids and people, she loves a pat and will nudge your hand for some extra affection. She has met all sorts of adults who have petted her and given her treats and she has met a handful of kids out on walks and is completely relaxed and quiet with them.
Jura is currently sharing her home with a cat and has no issue at all. With proper introductions and some ground rules she is fine to live with cats. Jura is crate trained but does not need to be in a crate. She sleeps happily through the night in her own bed.

Jura would be great for an older person / couple looking for a quiet, calm, well behaved and loving companion. Someone who likes a nice walk, but she does not require excessive exercise. She loves affection and would love to be spoiled. She is not needy, or difficult, or anything other than a total sweetheart. She would prefer a home with another confident dog but would be happy as an only dog providing you have time to be with her. However we are not sure a young crazy puppy would be a good match as she is not a big player.

Jura is very respectful of other dogs and humans, she is full to the brim with manners, doesn’t jump, no counter surfing, no barking, she is a beautiful soul.
If you are interested in the gorgeous, sweetheart of a girl please contact us. We have no doubt that she will make her forever family very happy. She has been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.
