Daisy – 4 year old female Dalmatian

Daisy is a 4 year old female Dalmatian bitch being fostered in Gloucestershire in family home with 3 dogs, two cats and teenagers. This lovely dog has recently come into our care and will update her profile more as she settles and we come into different situations. She has come into rescue through no fault of her own but through a change in circumstances of her previous owner who have had her since a puppy. We know Daisy is going to bring out the people wanting a cheap Pedigree dog or without reading her profile will want her for how she looks – hopefully the real doggy people will see past this and maybe someone who has not considered a Dalmatian before but reads about Daisy the dog, you may be pleasantly surprised as I personally think she is wonderful. This lovely dog has very obviously been well loved and cared for in the past, she has been so well behaved and is a pleasure to live with.

Beautiful and elegant looking, she is tall for a Dalmatian we measured her 65 cms from shoulder so that is a lot bigger than your average Labrador even. She looks like she has Pointer in her and several people have remarked on this I have looked up the Dalmatian history and apparently they did introduce this mix in the 70’s to help the gene pool be more healthy so that explains why. She has settled down with our dogs, we have two older dogs and a younger Spaniel with no issues or problems at all – she sleeps in her bed in the kitchen with them. She has been left again with no problems. She has been perfectly cleaned too. She also travels well.

Out walking she just loves it, she is now off the lead and to see her run and enjoy herself is all part of why we do what we do its just such a pleasure to see her – her recall is excellent mostly, I say mostly as we had a long walk in the woods and fields and she did chase some deer that were lurking but not for long she also enjoys a good sniff where the rabbits are too but again she always comes back she is not off for long. When out and meeting new dogs she is very friendly but not overly interested will say hi then continue to stay with you. I have also walked her with cattle and she shows no interest.

Character wise she is just lovely, she has an amazing temperament, she talks and smiles at you, very affectionate and loving and very easy to live with, I work a lot from home and she just settles in her bed with others she is not constantly following me around like some dogs do when the first come. She is learning to live with the cats was quite scared at first but getting more confident with them.

Daisy was quite upset when she first came and she would whine and looked so sad she broke my heart a bit but 2 days later and lots of lovely walks she is now moving on like dogs do. Getting the right home for Daisy is important she has lost her family because they felt she was not coping that well all those hours on her own so will wait until we get the opposite of this for her – she needs a home with someone who works part time. She loves her walks and is fit and active – she needs two off lead long walks a day – I think the countryside as she can cover some ground when she runs and would love this, she also loves the rivers we have come across on our walks.

This is a wonderful dog and somebody is going to very lucky – the only two negative I can see with her is she did go off to chase the deer that came into view but a lot of dogs would do that but in her defence she more or less came back straight away, she is also a big dog and can be quite strong on the lead, she came with a harness but I think they can encourage them to pull more so I am walking on her on a slip lead and she has responded well and getting better each day. In my eyes she is pretty perfect somebody is going to very bless to owned this dog.

Daisy is a sensitive loving dog who is well balanced and trained – she needs a kind gentle home like her. She could be an only dog but equally could be homed with other dogs and cats.

Daisy will be fully vaccinated, spayed, chipped, wormed and fleaed.
