Ned – 1 year old male Pointer Cross

Ned is a 1 year old male Pointer Cross. He was rescued in Cyprus and is now in the UK hoping to find his forever home. He is currently living with his foster mum in Salisbury. Here is a little bit about him: Ned is enthusiastic, super friendly, loving, loyal, fun, responsive and adorable. He’s also very excitable and struggles at times to power down. His passport says his date of birth is 05/07/17. But his behaviour and growth rate would suggest he’s a bit younger. Ned would love to be with you all day long. He’s not clingy, though he would gladly snuggle up with you, but likes to know you’re there. He sleeps in the kitchen at night with no problems and every morning is delighted that humans have come back. He can be left alone for short periods (two hours is the maximum that he has been tried) after a good run. He has chewed blankets and bedding or objects within his reach but he isn’t a destructive dog. He is absolutely amazing with the four year old child in his foster home, even when the four year old had been less than amazing with him! He is such a happy go lucky chap that loves everyone. He’s been superb with other dogs and manages those that grumble at him well.

This is his main distraction whilst out however. His recall is pretty good but he ignores you completely if he wants to see another dog. He doesn’t stray far on walks and has learned to walk calmly on the lead (mostly). He will chase cats and has shown interest in chasing deer. He also is very unsure around horses and woofs a fair bit. He’s very bouncy and can easily clear the 5ft fence in his foster home. So his forever home will need secure high fencing. He is not trying to run away, but simply wants to chase a cat or meet and play with another dog or person. He is a very brave boy and hides his anxiety well, quietly sitting by the car before it’s his turn to get in. When he needs lifting you realise he’s worried but that’s the only sign. He’s often a bit sick on car journeys. He’s better if not restrained greatly. He dislikes a crate and will show you just how much by digging, yelping and barking constantly. He chats away to you throughout the day, super cute when he’s mumbling to you. He is very happy to be rubbed down and will stand patiently while dirty feet are wiped after a walk. He does not like baths. He really is an absolutely joy of a dog.

He’s very responsive and tries so hard to get it right for you. He learns very quickly and will surprise you with how clever he is. His foster family absolutely love him, and say that he’s an amazing dog without question; very special. He would be best suited to a home with older children that he can’t bounce over too easily. He is up and ready first thing and lots of unwanted behaviour can be prevented by an early walk. He needs at least two good walks a day as well as some one-to-one training time. He would be fine with other dogs of similar energy levels that would also put him in his place as he can be quite boisterous and very persistent! We think he would also be okay as an only dog if he had human company most of the time. His foster mum says “Ned is a delightful dog. Given the right amount of exercise, stimulation and boundaries he will be nothing short of spectacular and a joy to share your life with. We will miss him greatly”.

If you would like to meet Ned to see for yourself what an amazing boy he is please contact us. He has been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. Minimum adoption donation £275. ADOPTION IS SUBJECT TO HOME CHECK.
