Jack is a 10 year old male Poodle Cross. Jack is a lesser spotted whatsadoodle and is of course a very rare and sought after breed. (some kind of poodle cross). His passport declares him to be ten years old but I think he could be younger. Jack is fostered in Gt Yarmouth (FR001). Jack was rescued from a public shelter in Romania but in the year that he was with them he never really let them get close or handle him and so he came to us for rehabilitation. What arrived a few weeks ago was a stinky, tangled grey mess with eyes and an attitude. As I have an attitude of my own I was not deterred by this and had to set about finding the dog beneath the matted fur. I did wimp out and muzzle him but to his credit when he realised I was going to carry on despite early objections he patiently allowed me to sort him.

After cutting and hacking my way through the main mass of matts I gave him a refreshing shower and then continued. I was eventually left with a much smaller dog and a bin bag full of hair, faeces, old shrubbery and many scabs that had formed as she was attacked by other dogs prior to his departure from Romania. I’m not a groomer and it wasn’t perfect styling but for sure he emerged from that bathroom feeling better than he had in years. Jack still holds a little of that attitude and I love that about him. He’s quirky and he likes his own way but he’s learning a new way to be and he’s a work in progress. If I sit him on my lap he will stay and be stroked but in all honesty I don’t think he really understands why I want to do that and I think it will take him a while to learn to enjoy the attention that he’s gotten this far in life without.

Jack is looking for an experienced adopter with the time and patience to teach him more about being loved and protected. Lead training has been interesting but he’s gradually getting the hang of it and there’s a whole world out there that he still needs to see. He needs an adult family and can live with other dogs.

If your looking for a project dog that isn’t going to love you until you’ve worked real hard to earn it then Jack’s your man, good job he’s cute right?? If you are interested please call or message us between 9am and 6pm.
