Bella – 6 year old female Rough Collie Cross

Bella is a 6 year old female Rough Collie Cross. She is a lovely dog who is very fond of people. But she does not like other dogs and we can only consider homing her with people who do not have another dogs. Previous experience of dog ownership is essential.

Bella will probably always have to be walked on lead to ensure the safety of other dogs. Walking a reactive dog on lead in a town can be problematic because of the irresponsible behaviour of other dog owners, who allow their dogs to approach dogs on lead. Therefore we would prefer Bella’s new home to be in the countryside where there may be fewer dogs around.

We hope to find Bella a secure and loving home. She has a lot of love to give, but she needs a safe environment in which to do this. She has a pet passport that is valid for one year. So, travel restrictions allowing, she could accompany her new family on holidays abroad.

Nova – 3 year old male Cross-Breed

Nova is a 3 year old male Cross-Breed (shoulder height: 55 cm, weight: 18 kg). He is a medium sized, neutered and beautiful dog. Sadly he was born to the wrong place, he’d been neglected since a puppy by his owners and he kept roaming the streets looking for company. He became a frequent visitor with another family in the village who already had two dogs. Nova kept hanging around and always returned to them when they tried to take him home to the owners.

The family finally took him on when he was already skin and bone, roaming the streets in the middle of a harsh winter with heavy minuses and he had an injured leg too. They gave him a temporary home but they could not keep him as they already have two dogs and a few other furries. We took him over in mid June and he is now looking for his forever family who give him the care and attention he deserves.

Nova loves people and thrives on human company. He is an active boy who will need a good amount of exercise to keep him happy and content. He is playful and very friendly with everyone. He is eager to learn and cooperates well with humans. He is an absolute sweetheart who deserves the best home! He is friendly with other dogs too, there is no aggression or dominance in him at all. He lives peacefully with his current pack which consists of a variety of young and old, big and small doggies, he just gets on well with everyone.

He currently lives in an outdoor kennel therefore we are unsure about his house training needs. His new family needs to be prepared to toilet train him if needed. He is not taken out for regular walks currently so his future family will need to train him to walk on and off lead. He struggles a bit with kennel life and this is not the life he deserves.

Nova would be best suited with a family without or with children over 14 where he is not left alone for long periods of time as he is very human centered. He needs an active family who take him on nice long walks, adventurous holidays, include him in their activities and he can be part of family life. He may be a perfect choice for someone who wants to do doggy sports or dog training classes with their dog. He could live with another friendly dog, but he could also be happy living with his humans to care for him only.

As all rescue dogs, he will need time, patience, love and commitment from his adopting family to become a happy, well balanced dog.

Nova is currently in Hungary and can travel to the UK as soon as the right family is found for him. He comes neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped, dewormed, flea and tick treated, with an EU passport and DEFRA approved paperwork.

Bob – 2 year old male Collie Cross

Bob is a 2 year old male Collie Cross who sadly hasn’t had the easiest of lives so far. He was caught by dog catchers in Romania at only around 6-7 weeks old using a catch pole and dragged into Odai public shelter where Bob became very sick. That’s when his guardian angel from Eli for Animals stepped in and took him to a vet in Bucharest for the best chance of survival.

Bob grew stronger and is now a healthy boy. He is fully vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. Bob arrived in the UK end of Jan 2019. Unfortunately life in the UK hasn’t been smooth sailing for him either. I don’t like to dwell on the horrors he faced at the critical socialisation period of his life but they have certainly impacted him as well as having a bad start the first couple of months in the UK being moved around.

Bob is currently fostered in Norfolk with other dogs, a cat and small animals. He arrived reactive and over aroused but is slowly starting to get better each day and less suspicious. His brain was very wired and he couldn’t think clearly. He is now learning and growing in confidence with the guidance of his fosterer.

Bob is a smart dog who is eager to learn. He has some collie traits and does show some herding behaviour. Bob is still a young dog with heaps of potential. He loves to play with toys and the other dogs and playful cat he’s in foster with. He can be super affectionate and sweet with those he knows.

Bob would do best in an adult home. Ideally in a more rural environment as he can be noise sensitive. Although he’ll really need someone with plenty of time for 121 training we do feel he would need at least one doggy companion that’s well balanced and easy going who’ll be a positive influence for Bob to follow the lead from. Bob travels well in the car and walks well on a lead.

He needs someone with experience of rescue dogs who understands positive reward based training and the need for downtime. Bob is very wary of people he doesn’t know and will bark at them. He will always be a sensitive dog and he has struggled in the past with strangers visiting the home and has had a history of nipping. So care and management will always need to be taken to set Bob up to succeed.

His fosterer has been feeding him a natural diet with herbal supplements and regular healing which has been fundamental in helping Bob release his past trauma. We would love an open minded adopter who could take a similar approach and find it in their heart to see past any issues that may arise and enjoy this journey with darling Bob who has a whole life ahead of him.

Jorge – 1 year old male Ratonero Bodeguero Andaluz (Spanish Jack Russell)

Meet Jorge (Spanish for George). Jorge is a striking small size 1 year old male Ratonero Bodeguero Andaluz (Spanish Jack Russell). He is in a shelter in southern Spain until he has a home to go to.

Jorge has the typical markings of a Bodeguero – white body and black, tan and white markings on his face. He weighs 8.2kg, and his measurements are: 40 cm long and 33cm high.

Jorge was found abandoned in our rescuers local town. last week (1 June). We think he has lived in a home and has been discarded like a piece of trash. He had no chip. He is not only handsome, but is a very playful boy. Because he has now got used to living in the shelter, we would like to home him with a friendly resident dog.

Jorge has met children and is good with them, but we think he would be better living with children over 11 as he can be quite boisterous. He will need training in all aspects, apart from lead training which he has already got the hang of.

The Ratonero Bodeguero Andaluz has an appearance very similar to that of the Jack Russell Terrier, to the extent that it has on occasion been called the Spanish Jack Russell. The breed is an agile dog with a lean and athletic build. The breed is lively and brave with strong hunting instincts so we would not home him with any small furries. This breed is good with children.
